Student Wellbeing

Schools play an important role in promoting the emotional and social development and wellbeing of the students in their care.

At Reservoir Primary School, our learning community student supports wellbeing, safety and positive relationships so that students can reach their full potential.

We understand that positive student wellbeing and mental health are essential for both academic and social development, and to foster this we offer a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment. Mindfulness and meditation help students to understand and self-regulate their emotions while flexible learning spaces in classrooms further supports wellbeing.

Department of Education Student Support Services are available along with an onsite psychologist should parents/carers wish to access these services for their child.

The Wellbeing Coordinator liaises with parents, students and these specialists to organise these services. The DET website provides a vast range of information for parents/cares around wellbeing and mental health.

The Wellbeing Coordinator can also help parents and carers with any resources or services they may wish to access. Relevant, up-to-date information around student wellbeing is regularly shared with the Reservoir Primary School community through our Compass communication system.

Out of School Hours Care

Reservoir Primary operates a strong and sought-after program before and after school.
Two coordinators have run the program for more than 20 years; it’s popularity has grown dramatically, and all students who join the program take part in the many activities that are offered.

Students feel valued, and staff are respected and appreciated.

Breakfast is available in the mornings and after school, a snack is enjoyed before the students can enjoy games, craft activities and sporting fun.

School Council

State policy guidelines indicate that school-community interaction is vital to the development of educational programs. To enable this policy development process to be truly representative, parents are invited to nominate as a member (one of six), along with two elected staff representatives and a community member.

The Principal, as the School Council’s Executive Officer, is an ex-officio voting member.

The Reservoir Primary School Council meets on Mondays at 7pm. A minimum of eight meetings are held in a school year. Each April, new members of the School Council are elected, replacing half of the existing membership.

The School Council is responsible for the educational policies and plans for the school. Members also have the responsibility for the school’s financial affairs and that the facilities are maintained in an appropriate manner.

Introducing our School Council Members:

  • Linda Angeloni – School Council President
  • Dave Thirkettle-Watts – Vice President
  • Helen Miller – Executive Officer (Principal)
  • Connie Williams – Treasurer
  • Melissa Southern – Minutes Secretary
